Awards and Honors
Skills
Creative Arts and Design
• Listening -- Experiences with both teaching six (6) art classes and taking 17 classes has taught me the importance of listening in order to ensure that I am learning appropriate steps and techniques and able to successfully share the skills with others.
• Skill Development and Refinement -- Exploring seven new art skills and practiced five additional skills in various ways over the last year. It is important that I am as skilled as possible in order to effectively teach and share those skills with others in my care.
• Budget -- Learning to collaborate and communicate needs with others in order to effectively create and manage a $56,000 remodeling budget is crucial to a successful outcome. Best laid plans often go awry. A budget ensures that you can make necessary changes along the way without spending too much money.

Leadership

• Brainstorming -- using two (2) new tools that I learned through 4-H --
brain writing and the Charette procedure -- I am
now able to help groups come up with effective
solutions that everyone can agree upon•
• Parliamentary Procedure -- mastering this meeting tool has enabled
me to effectively and efficiently lead 14
meetings to accomplish the set agenda
items in a timely fashion

• Teaching -- organizing the subject-matter skills I have learned from
my art training into six (6) lesson plans/classes and nine
(9) activities that can be shared with my Creative Arts and Design Virtual Project Group members better prepared
them to work on their own to master their new skills.

Citizenship

• Up-cycling -- completing seven (7) furniture up-cycling projects
provided "new to you" furniture for others while
conserving the environment.
• Patience -- working with and for the benefit of others in my
community has taught me the importance of patience as
large projects take time to get off the ground -- but once
they do -- they can be awesome! I have spent 88 hours
over the last three (3) years working on various
community service projects.
• Value of Family and Friends -- interacting with those in my
neighborhood who have no friends
or family to lean on has taught me to
recognize and be thankful for those
persons in my life
