Growing Plants for Dyes and Pigments for the Creative Arts and Design Virtual Project Group

One of the six classes that I taught this year focused on fabric and paper dyeing. I grew five (5) different types of plans to use. I picked the flowers and leaves from trees, replanted trees, mixed flowers with a mordant and created a slew. From there, I dyed both fabric and paper to use in my mixed media art. I used twigs from trees to make handmade paint brushes. I also shared these technique with members of the Creative Arts and Design Virtual Project Group. Together, we made a total of 117 dyed materials. With each class, I tie the learning experiences back into their e-portfolios. it's hard sometimes to keep all of this information straight ... I like to help them! I also introduced them to collage and how to use objects around the house to make interesting collage marks in their art work.

Leadership
Leadership: Leading Others

A highlight of developing my leadership skills was at SRTLC this past fall. I registered all of the delegates and taught an exercise class. Because of my public speaking skills, I have been given the opportunity to emcee two 4-H banquets this year.

Citizenship
Citizenship

Giving back to my famliy and others in my community has been a big focus of my work in the citizenship project this year. I made holiday wreaths for my family members (my granny loved hers!), worked with my dad to create flower pots for our front porch and volunteered with a local food bank.
